As people age, wrinkles and loose, sagging skin will show up on the face because of the effects of gravity, sun exposure, genetics, and other stresses. A facelift can make men and women look younger to “turn back the clock” by improving visible signs of an aging face. A facelift removes excess skin, tightens underlying tissue, repositions soft tissue of the face and neck area.
Am I a good candidate for a facelift?
If you have noted signs of facial aging such as cheek deflation, jowl formation, skin laxity or just notice you’re looking tired or sad, a facelift may be your answer. During the initial consultation, Dr. Yuan will access your condition and discuss with you options of facial rejuvenation. Your medical history will be reviewed to see if you are a good candidate for this procedure. Patients must be in good overall health, be a non-smoker and not have a history of hypertrophic or keloid scars.
What I can expect?
Many patients can have facelift procedures in our in-office surgical suite in Pottstown, PA. Patients are given medication for pain and relaxation and tumescent local numbing medication is used. You’ll be awake during the procedure, but very relaxed without too much discomfort. You will be given prescription for home pain medication for the early post-op period though many patients report little to no pain.
You may return to work after one week. But, the bruising and swelling post-operatively usually last for about two weeks. So, plan to have one or two weeks before any major social event. Full recovery should take about 4-6 weeks. Each patient may recover differently.
